Welcome to Creator's Kids Q&A!
We have both anticipated and collected from parents some answers to your frequently asked questions. This page is updated periodically with new questions we receive.
What are your room ratios? The website mentions the ratios, but does that apply to a large room or small rooms?
We not only have great ratios, but we have small room sizes! Many centers place 10-20 students into one large room with multiple teachers. That does not create individualized and personal care for children. We do things differently! All our rooms are smartly partitioned into smaller classrooms. This allows for the unique personalized attention we provide your children in small groups. In our infant room, each quadrant is separated into 2 teachers with only 6 infants. In our toddler rooms, we have 2 teachers to only 8 mobile infants/toddlers. In our preschool rooms, we have 1 teacher to only 7-8 mixed-age group students.
What age groups are the infant rooms? How many children and teachers are in a group?
Our “infant” room is for ages 6 weeks to 12 months. It is separated into 4 quadrants, with 3 play quadrants and a sleeping quadrant. There are 6 teachers for the 3 quadrants, for a total capacity of 18 infants. Each of the 4 quadrants is separated by clear partitions from 4' up, so teachers can monitor and ensure safe sleep for all infants.
What age groups are the ABC toddler rooms? How many children and teachers are in a group?
Our 3 ABC "toddler" rooms are for ages 12 months to 24/36 months. We move children through our rooms as they are ready. That means your child will only move to the next room when they have demonstrated the ability and desire to safely move to the next age group. There are 6 teachers for the 3 quadrants, for a total capacity of 24 mobile infants/toddlers. Each of the 3 quadrants is separated by clear partitions from 4' up. This allows for a unique setting in which we can ensure safety for all children while allowing each child to follow their own nap routine in a quiet environment.
What age groups are the preschool rooms?
We define "preschool" as a mixed-age group of children varying from 24 / 36 months to 6 years / PreK. We move a child into a mixed age group only when the child is ready. This means the child has demonstrated a desire and readiness to move to a preschool room, defined by readiness for social interaction with older children, an ability to self-feed solid foods, and a need for only one afternoon nap a day. We realize some children are ready at 24 months and some not until 36 months. That is why we carefully observe and document individual behaviors and needs before recommending the child move to a preschool room and we always work with parents and ask for their input before moving a child to a new room.
How many children and teachers are in the preschool rooms?
We have 6 preschool rooms. Each early childhood educator is assigned to only 8 children. We believe in the benefits of the mixed-age groups, especially coupled with small classroom sizes and a designated teacher. Your preschooler is sure to thrive, learn, grow, and excel in academic and social skills that will ensure your child is ready for kindergarten. We ensure safety, age-appropriate education, and personalized attention for each child in the group. Therefore, the group sizes may vary depending on the ages of the children as well as the educational, emotional, and developmental needs of the children.
What is Friday Fun Day?
Friday is Fun Day where your preschool child will participate in more peer group activities and field trips. While we whole-heartedly believe in the advantages of mixed age groups, we also realize it is important for children to develop social skills with their peers and participate in larger group activities at a peer level. On Fridays, the younger preschool children are grouped together, and the older preschool children are in a different group. Each group will do activities and field trips geared to their specific ages, as well as in a larger group setting. This allows children to learn to participate in large group activities as well as develop relationships and social skills that will prepare them for the kindergarten setting.
Will my older child be bored or not engaged in a mixed-aged group?
Our preschool teachers design the curriculum to be age-appropriate for each child in the group. The small group sizes provide the opportunity and availability of the teacher to ensure personalized care and individualized curriculum to children, not much different than how God intended children to learn in a family-based environment with a parent. Our goal is to ensure your child is more than "kindergarten ready", and that kindergarten teachers recommend our center as an exceptional place for your child to grow academically in their preschool years.
Will my younger child be left out or unsafe in a mixed-age group?
With our small group sizes and a designated teacher, no child is left out or unsupervised. Younger children are given age-appropriate curriculum as well. For example, in our #1 preschool room, light is the theme. Younger children may learn about lights turning on and off while playing with a light switch, while older children may learn about how a light switch transmits electricity to turn a light on. A younger child may learn that when we go outside in the day, it is light and to find the sun, while an older child may learn that while we are outside, we can take a magnifying glass to move and enhance the light.
What is Preschool Prep?
Preschool Prep is for children 24mon-36mon. We focus on potty training and getting them ready for the Preschool room. Prep does use the same curriculum as Preschool, just modified to their developmental level.

Thanksgiving

Christmas Day
If the holiday falls on a weekend the center will not close any additional days. However, we may ask for parents to "sign up" for the preceding or succeeding day so we can schedule teachers accordingly as times around the holidays tend to have less children in attendance.
We are closed at 4pm once per quarter for staff training. We will close at 4pm on Good Friday. We will close at 4pm twice a year for carpet cleaning. All closing dates will be posted at least 30 days in advance.
Will you be closed for school snow days or holidays?
We will only close in a major shutdown where most other businesses (such as the mall and other large organizations) are closed. We plan to be open all days except the major holidays listed above.
How do I schedule a tour?
We invite you to book a tour with our owner! We encourage both parents to visit the facility, and if you’re unable to come together, we’re happy to schedule two separate tours.
To help us manage scheduling, we now require a $50 refundable tour fee, which will be returned when you attend. We look forward to meeting your family and showing you all that our program has to offer!
What are teachers saying about this?
Our teacher candidates are loving our model. Their number one complaint is how overwhelming and exhausting it is to tend to so many children, even if the ratios are low, but the room sizes are large. They are excited we have created a better learning environment for children thus producing a better teaching environment for our staff. They also appreciate the better pay and benefits that our center provides. The culture combined with the compensation makes for quality, dedicated, and refreshed teachers ready to provide exceptional care and education.
What are the benefits of mixed-age groups?
We encourage you to research the benefits of mixed-age groups. Here are just a few examples. God designed the family unit. Mixed age group classrooms mimic God's design of the family and neighborhood groups. They promote leadership in the older children and allow them to teach, help, share, and explain, fostering academic and socials skills that better prepare them for kindergarten while boosting self-esteem and confidence. Mixed-age groups stimulate each other's development and allow children to be challenged more so than with their peer group. We believe in the benefits of the mixed-age groups, especially coupled with small classroom sizes and a designated teacher. Your child is sure to thrive, learn, grow, and excel in academic and social skills that will ensure your child is ready for kindergarten.
Are you affiliated with any religious organization?
We are not affiliated with a particular denomination or church. We teach about the love of Jesus and Christian principles through books, stories, and activities based on the scripture in The Bible.
What if our family is not Christian?
We welcome all children and families. We are not here to promote a particular denomination. We simply teach of Jesus’ love through stories in the Bible. Our main goal is to provide excellent care and education for your child. We believe that part of that exceptional care is teaching Christian principles that are also taught in other faiths and beliefs, such as loving your neighbor, being kind and helpful, and living a moral, productive, and healthy life.
Where are naps given? Do you require children to nap?
For our infants, we have cribs with breathable mattresses and mattress pads. The fitted sheets are washed, and the cribs are sanitized daily. The toddlers have mats with pillows and blankets. We wash them weekly, and each child has their own set. Naps for Infants are provided in the morning and afternoon. Children in our mixed age, Toddler, and Preschool rooms nap once a day. Older children are not required to nap and can instead choose a quiet activity to play at the table with the teacher or they may have activities outside the classroom such as recess time, arts and crafts, or library time.
What nutrition does our child receive?
Healthy and fresh-cooked meals are prepared on-site by a dedicated cook! We serve breakfast, lunch, and a hearty snack for 3 healthy meals a day. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein are core ingredients in our menu. We source organic and soy when available. Kids learn culinary skills through fun and delicious activities such as frosting cupcakes, making ice cream cones and shaved ice, decorating cookies, and even preparing their own healthy snacks. Children eat family-style in their rooms with their small group and designated teachers. Children learn manners and healthy eating habits while being exposed to various nutritious foods, all in a family-style environment that promotes lifelong good eating habits.
What exercise does our child receive?
We have many ways for your child to be active during the day! Our indoor playroom promotes health, movement, and learning year-round! We have the area’s only Noah’s Arc Indoor Splashpad and Play Center! Kids can play year-round in water inside our heated indoor splash pad. Our interactive floor projectors allow children of all ages to burn energy, while learning and having fun, even in the cold long winter months. Interactive wall play provides fun STEAM learning for all age groups. In the warmer months, we have a full-sized outdoor play area with multiple activity centers, each designed to provide fun and safe age-appropriate play for all children in our program. Our discovery center welcomes young toddlers. Musical flower chimes promote language and reasoning skills, as well as pattern recognition. Tunnels and climbing rocks promote physical strength coordination and flexibility. Our great adventure play structure for our preschool-aged children provides fun in tunnels, slides and develops balance and coordination on the balance beams and skipping steps. Children learn to work together in the spinning sphere. Children also explore, learn, and are active in planned field trips to the park, zoo, science museum, and other fun and educational spots.

How do you transport children?
We charter buses through School Bus Inc. Their busses have age-appropriate restraints. We do not transport children in our own vehicles or by our staff. If we are in walking distance to the location, strollers with appropriate restraints are utilized to safely transport younger children. Two staff members are required in any activity that is outside of our center. We also invite parents and volunteers on these activities for additional supervision and safety.
How do you communicate with parents?
We use a web-based program called BrightWheel. Each parent has an app on their phone in which they can communicate with their child’s teacher, receive updates throughout the day about their child, view announcements, menu, and schedules.
What credentials and training are required from teachers?
We provide CPR and first aid training to all staff members. Each staff member is required to have their certification up to date within 90 days of first employment or expiration of previous certification. We require all staff members to have experience working with children before joining our team. Our preschool and lead teachers, as well as all supervisors and management, are required to have a degree in early childhood development, teaching, a CDA, or similar equivalent. We put a high emphasis on education and training. We provide career development and training for all our staff throughout the year.
How do you ensure safety and security for the children and staff?
We put a strong emphasis on child safety. Our center is always locked, and only parents with a programmed security key on their phone can enter the building. All other visitors must present a valid ID, have parental approval, check in with the front office, and are escorted by staff while in the building.
All staff are CPR and First Aid certified, thoroughly background checked, and dedicated to maintaining a safe environment. Field trips and any activities outside the center will always have at least two staff members supervising.
